Jun 3, 2005 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - Saks Inc. said on Friday it is looking further into inventory markdowns and vendor markdown allowances at its Saks Fifth Avenue unit and at whether vendors were improperly charged fees for failing to comply with the retailer’s policies. Wisconsin consumer protection officials last year looked into the rebates after 89 consumers complained, and Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro sued Best Buy in August in part over complaints about rebates. Chief financial officer Darren Jackson said in an interview that the actions of regulators were not a factor in the decision.
