Two investigations of HSBC in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s privacy commissioner said Friday he was ‘very concerned’ about the loss of a digital tape containing 25,000 phone conservations between HSBC and its customers. But Rod Woo told legislators at a meeting Friday that he was very concerned about the loss of the digital tape and would carry out an investigation. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority also expressed concern at the incident and said it had launched its own investigation into the loss of the data. It seems like Hong Kong is less likely to overlook HSBC’s screw-ups than some people thought.
