Employment tribunal hears from HSBC former employee in London

According to the Telegraph, a top finance adviser at HSBC was forced out of her £200,000 a year job because of the “laddish culture” in her office, an employment tribunal heard yesterday. The 47-year-old, who worked for HSBC for 29 years, said that some of her more lucrative clients were passed on to male colleagues while files were taken from her desk and hidden in a “childish” fashion.

It is odd to me, as I write this article, that I just posted a claim by an HSBC employee in the United States which in part stated “(HSBC’s) treatment of employees is even worse now.” Meanwhile, in the UK we now have the case of Jacqueline Crawley. Anyone who has experienced friction and jealousy in the workplace can relate to the Crawley case. Unfortunately at 47 years old one has no patience for it. You can read the entire article by Caroline Gammell in the Telegraph here.

One Response to “Employment tribunal hears from HSBC former employee in London”

  1. […] WM in Ohio said: “In response to: Employment tribunal hears from HSBC former employee in London… HSBC is a boys club certainly. I heard in one branch they only gave the females the loans the males couldn’t get… “leftovers”. I don’t have that problem in my branch because we haven’t had a female employee in a few years as a loan officer. There is different treatment of females, less respect and the language that goes on is unbelieveable.” Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
