Still no news from HSBC Finance
Layoffs continue due to restructuring within HSBC Finance as HFC and Beneficial Finance employees look for more information. A brief search of Google News tells very little. Aside from subprime losses, we learn instead that HSBC unveiled a climate change fund, that HSBC rewards customers for their patronage, and something about a global property fund. The reason for HSBC’s silence remains unknown. A Google News search for HSBC USA tells even less, as the news is filled with subprime issues.
In August 2007 HSBC was slow to release news of the first round of closures in Carmel Indiana and other locations. By September 2007 we were told HSBC Card Services Inc. planned to cut 213 jobs in October and is closing a Scottsdale center that handles credit card service calls. Meanwhile in this time of uncertainty layoffs continue at HFC and Benefical branches around the United States.

I would hope that when local media gets wind of some of these closings they would at least do a story. Perhaps a closing branch somewhere should notify them.
I for one would really like to know what areas these closings are occuring in. Maybe they are waiting until all the decisions have been made and then they will release a final statement.
I also wonder if on the HFC/Beneficial websites are taking off the branches they are closing…For instance when one does a zip code search, it pulls up any branches close to where you are located. Have any started disappearing yet? Just a thought.
