Stephen Green, Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings plc, said: “HSBC’s Future of Retirement: What the world wants research shows that individuals increasingly expect to bear their own costs in later life, but governments and business must understand their role in continuing to support individuals. They cannot afford to shy away from the enormous challenges and opportunities presented by global ageing.”

What the world really wants is an assurance from HSBC that people will be treated fairly, and with respect. Rather than continue the “HSBC Household Model” of predatory lending, the world wants to see payments credited on time. Foreclosures, while inevitable in some markets, should not be the product of arrogance, deception, and duplicity. Stephen Green should form a task force to study HSBC Finance Corporation, public complaints, the worst Better Business Bureau standing of any finance company, and actual reasons for consumer complaints. Only then will Green’s ‘what the world wants’ study be taken seriously by anyone other than the uninformed and globally unaware!
