Price Chopper Rejects HSBC Debt Cards
ROTTERDAM — HSBC Bank is working with Price Chopper to resolve the rejection of their debit cards at the supermarket’s cash registers. The problem is the bank’s computer system is not aligned with Price Chopper’s system, officials said. Because of this, the registers won’t accept the card’s PIN. HSBC said it hopes to have the problem resolved within a month. In the meantime, those with HSBC debit cards can use the cards at Price Chopper by signing for the bill — a credit card transaction — instead of using the PIN. They also can take out money from the cash machine in the store, officials said.
Activists at Household - HSBC Watch say HSBC will anger many customers over a one month period, whereas one would expect good programmers to solve the problem before they go home for the evening.
