Radian Guaranty announced Monday results of a recent survey of adults nationwide, of whom two-thirds own their current home and 47% have a home mortgage. The study revealed that 52% of the participants said they were no more than somewhat knowledgeable about the mortgage options available to them at the time they purchased their homes, according to the announcement.
Consumer advocates at Household - HSBC Watch say many adults are likely to be unaware of HSBC’s background and history in mortgage lending, leaving consumers vulnerable. “Knowledgeable about mortgage options means being aware that predatory lender Household International is now part of HSBC, and Decision One Mortgage is actually part of the HSBC - Household Finance - Beneficial Finance shady lender scheme” said the group. “We continue to educate the consumer about HSBC and Household International” they said.
