Liz Claiborne Web Site Clouds Credit Card Issue
Effective Date March 9, 2004: GSI-Chelsea Solutions, Inc. (”GSI”) operates the web site, www.lizclaiborne.com, pursuant to agreements with LCI Holdings, Inc. (”Liz”). Liz Claiborne recently signed on board with questionable credit card processor Household International, now operating as HSBC Finance Corporation. But their web site allows you to open an account and manage your account - all without telling you who you will be dealing with. Even their privacy policy makes it unclear that HSBC Retail Services and HSBC NV will be your new financial friend. “Obviously there is enough bad press and predatory news that would deter customers and make Liz Claiborne’s choice of credit card processors questionable too” said Household HSBC Watch, a consumer advocacy organization. See if you can find the information here at their website. “When Saks signed up with Household International it was a clear sign that Saks was in trouble. We will watch Liz Claiborne in the future” the group said.
