CompUSA Re-Signs With Questionable Credit Card Processor HSBC

August 2, 2005 – HSBC - North America’s retail services business has renewed its relationship with CompUSA to manage the company’s private label credit card program. CompUSA is a leading technology retailer in the United States and Puerto Rico. “When it comes to unleashing the power of technology, our customers expect flexible buying options that make their purchases simple and convenient,” said Mike Bryk, vice president of finance and administration for CompUSA. Consumer advocates at Household - HSBC Watch said ‘flexible buying options’ and ’simple and convenient’ may not seem so nice when you fail to get your bill, your payment is credited late, and you are charged interest on “no interest” promotions.
