July 18 — The National Black Data Processing Associates (BPDA) will present HSBC - North America with an award for being one of the Best Companies for Blacks in Technology at the 27th Annual National BDPA Conference to be held in Detroit next month. This is the third year that the Best Companies for Blacks in Technology Awards Program has assessed organizations for their workplace and career development climates for African Americans. For the second consecutive year HSBC - North America was one of six companies to receive the award from a group of 120 companies invited to participate.
HSBC, which in part is the former disgraced predatory lender Household International, contributes to the HSBC/UNCF Corporate Scholars Program, amid charges by people of color that they are redlined or discriminated against with higher cost loans. ‘BellSouth Receives Top Score on NAACP Report Card’ said a recent report, quoted by consumer advocates at Household - HSBC Watch. “BellSouth never foreclosed on anyone due to predatory home loans” said the group.
