DH in Ohio said “I applied for a car loan with household auto in july of 2001. The inquiry never appeared on my credit report. I believe that they gave me an unfair interest rate. I have called and they told me that they used Equifax. This inquiry is not on any old Equifax reports.”

“Now that the Fact Act is in effect people get free credit reports and lies such as the one above are becoming clear. If the interest rate is high enough there probably was no credit check. HSBC auto finance is not much different than a “buy here, pay here” used car dealer” said consumer advocates at HSBC Watch.
