HSBC Code of Ethics Questioned at Household International

HSBC filed this with the SEC - “Household’s Board of Directors has adopted a Code of Ethics for Senior Financial Officers. That Code of Ethics is included as Exhibit 14 to this Annual Report on Form 10-K. Household also has a general code of ethics applicable to all employees that is referred to as its Statement of Business Principles. That document is available on our website at www.household.com or upon written request made to Household International, Inc., 2700 Sanders Road, Prospect Heights, Illinois 60070, Attention: Corporate Secretary.”

“This is a pay-for-performance company that is famous for predatory lending, once headed by a CEO and Chairman who has been sued or responsible for more settlements monetarily than most. Hundreds of consumer complaints are received daily, so we don’t think the “principles” are heartfelt at the individual level” said Household - HSBC Watch.
