More than 785,000 Americans learned that they may have been the subject of identity theft in the last three months. HSBC, a U.K. bank, recently informed 180,000 of its customers that information the company kept on them had been exposed to potential criminals. Consumer advocacy organization Household – HSBC Watch said recent complaints on their website include HSBC NV, the Nevada location of HSBC (household International) credit card issuing facility. Here is a sample consumer report to Household – HSBC Watch: “We are refinancing and 3 months ago this was not on our credit report and now it is for $1423.00 at $42.00 a month and we never signed up for anything in this past year. How do we get this off our credit report?”

See more about HSBC NV in the forums. Also see our main website for detailed information about HSBC NV. Pay specific information to the lower part of this page

According to watchdogs and investigators at Household – HSBC Watch the timing is suspicious, the number of complaints is high, and the HSBC NV issue is a new trend. “We don’t know at this point if it is part of the HSBC name change, identity theft, or exactly what we are seeing” said the organization. “The phone number for HSBC NV is 702-243-1000 if that helps. Insiders told us that Best Buy was prepared to write off all fraudulent accounts opened over the holidays including accounts opened with no signature or no proof of ID. It will take some time for Best Buy and Household International (HSBC) to realize these accounts are fraudulent, but that would be HSBC-RS, not HSBC-NV. They may have been hit hard with the GM Card fiasco, and that would be HSBC-NV to the best of our knowledge.”

    HSBC NV has fradulently established
an account in my name with a $7307 charge and an overdue payment of $407, thus causing me problems with getting any decent financing because it is on my credit report. HELP!! What can I do?
I have reported it to Equifax, but how can I prevent this from happening again and get it removed with my name and credit report cleared of this fraudulent
    claim?

I am going through escrow and the lender discovered a late payment history with HSBC NV from 2002. I don’t
have any current or old accounts with
HSBC NV. My lender wants to know why I was late with my payments. How do I explain that?

To get something off of your credit report dispute it. Michael that matter with HSBC will not come off credit report unless you contact them. They sold it to another company so if you request that the mark be taken off they HAVE to.

HI I have this Direct Merchants bank credit card under my husband’s name. He passed away last December 2005. A court person came by a week after he died and tried to serve us a summons to collect the debt from Direct Merchants. I have not heard anything from them since then. I know it is changed to HSBC NV. Whatever that means. I look at the credit report and it says Charged off as bad debt. Profit and loss writeoff. Charged Off Account Credit Card. Charged off. What does those means? Please tell me. Do I still owe? Please give me a phone number to call.

    Thanks,
    Theresa

I received a bad mark on my credit report saying I owed $419 past due as of June 2001; Creditor’s statement “Account closed at credit grantor’s request.” I paid this debt in full in 2002 (a Direct Merchant’s credit card). I am taking the advice on this blog to dispute the mark.

The kick in the head is that it shows an active payment history of $175 a month for the past 22 months! Its not delinquent! Whos paying this account? This account was not on my credit report 4 months ago! Can anyone help me? I tried calling a bunch of 1-800 #’s but keep getting transfered to another #.

I just brought up my credit report, and i finally noticed a card that’s been there since 2004, that i had nothing to do with! I got the triple credit report, and info on this account in experien is different from the info in Equifax, which is also different from Transunion — even the account numbers are different! This has got to be a scam, and I’m just glad you all have noticed it too.

  16. Orion says:

I have looked at my credit report and found this acct# it has been paid and closed but it is still accruing and now is up to $719 from $230 there is just a P.O. Box with no number. How do I get a hold of this company.

  17. George C says:

I just got a free credit report from Experian and see a HSBC NV delinquent charge for over $4000 and I’ve never dealt with these SOB’s before. The last credit card that I had was in 1988 and it was NOT with them, so its time to start an a** kicking session.

I just got my credit reports from myfico.com and found a ding from HSBC NV also and did some thinking about what cards I’ve had. It turned out being a GM card that my brother had added me on as a signer when i was going to college 6 years ago. He since entered financial difficulty and i was never removed from the card, so I received the ding also even though i haven’t even seen the card in several years. I’m about to make some calls and see if I can do anything. Hope this helps.

I paid off an HSBC account a year ago, after it had been sold to a collector in upstate New York. Now, it apparently has been re-sold to Midland Credit Management, and they want the full balance once again. Naturally, their representatives are less than charming and curteous.
