HSBC Eyes Viet Nam Next - Vets Unhappy
HSBC is constantly expanding around the globe and they are possibly looking at Viet Nam next. Meanwhile, in the United States, HSBC seeks to expand into California and Florida. US veterans are not impressed. Referencing Viet Nam, veterans say servicemembers missing in action since the Viet Nam war are still not accounted for. The remains of Army helicopter pilot Randy Ard were returned to Redstone Arsenal Alabama in March 2005, to a 21 gun salute and his final trip home to Marshall County Alabama.
Already involved in predatory lending through their purchase of disgraced lender Household International, HSBC must learn to balance the thoughts and feelings of Americans against the negative impact HSBC is having in the United States. Consumer watchdog organization Household - HSBC Watch, made up of retired servicemembers, said HSBC’s moves should be watched on a global scale. “Retirees, veterans, active duty in Iraq, and active duty elsewhere might band together to boycott HSBC if the MIA issue unifies them” said the group.
