Since troubles abound with HSBC’s online payment website, customers are now reporting the scams resulting from being forced to pay by phone. One Colorado resident said this:
“I paid a $15.00 “instant check” fee which was supposed to ensure that payment was made that day, thereby avoiding the late payment fee. On the following statement not only was I charged the $15.00 fee, but the late fee as well as other charges. Upon calling customer service I was told to provide the front and back of the check, when I explained that it did not go through but that I had the confirmation that it was submitted I was told to provide the front and back of the check!” Consumer watchdog organization Household – HSBC Watch said the “broken record technique is fine for High School debate class but unsatisfactory for a customer service center.”

Exactly what happened to me!! It is 3/30/05. I subscribe to a consumer credit report agency and was notified there was negative information reported and when I opened up the report, I was suprised to find it was over-the-limit by HSBC–and I too had paid the $ 15.00 rush fee, and was also charged the fee plus a late charge, plus an over-the-limit fee! What can I do???!!!!! BBB report?
