Two RICO Suits for HSBC Finance Corporation
On October 25, 2004 Household - HSBC Watch reported on a Nashville Tennessee court filing wherein Household International, now called HSBC Finance Corporation, was charged with alleged racketeering, influence and corruption.
On March 31, 2004 we reported that a claim against tax preparer H&R Block and Household on two provisions of RICO — racketeering and conspiracy. A news release from two New York law firms representing the Chicago class said the court found the RICO complaint adequately pleaded that Block helped operate a scheme to defraud customers into buying refund anticipation loans.
HSBC is faced with two racketeering, influence and corruption cases thanks to Household International aka HSBC Finance Corporation. What will 2005 bring? Sarbanes - Oxley for sure, and HSBC Finance Corporation must account for earnings during Shea v Household.
