ServerPrice - a good deal or a joke?
Serverprice, a low cost player in the highly competitive web hosting industry, is the focal point of recent comments by webmasters and server administrators. Serverprice has been down for days at a time. Serverprice also hosts this website for Household Watch.
Quite convenient for serverprice and inconvenient for webmasters is the fact that their online trouble ticket system is also down when their hosted websites are down. During August 2004 a “whois” check of serverprice.com showed over 400 websites on their single Celeron server. After many outages and outraged customers, September’s “whois” revealed less than 300 sites on the server.
It appears to this writer that their customers are jumping ship. On the first day of October 2004, Server Price was down again for almost 48 hours. An October 3rd “whois” shows they are down to 231 websites on the Celeron server, and the count keeps dropping.
Telephone support is impossible and phone calls are not returned. This user left our toll free number, so cost to them is not an issue. Integrity, support, customer loyalty and responsibility for their own actions are the issues.
Household Watch will be moving in the near future. The bottom line for web professionals is this - if you are considering Server Price, keeping looking for a more reliable and professional web host or reseller from a company you can trust.
