The alure of the new lineup from Hewlett Packard might look intriguing at Best Buy, but Household Watch has over 1600 horror stories in the consumer reports database, the large majority of which concern possible questionable dealings between predatory lender Household International (HSBC) and Best Buy.

Yasuo Takei, founder of Japan’s top consumer finance firm and Japan’s second-richest man took more than three decades to turn a lending operation aimed at cash-starved housewives into a $10 billion company that prides itself on its ethical standards in a sector rife with shady operators.
Household Watch has yet to determine how much of United States Predatory lender Household International is marketed worldwide by HSBC. It is wise for consumers to study the contrast between Household’s $484 million (USD) settlement for predatory lending in the United States and business models announced elsewhere by HSBC.
It is interesting to Household Watch that former CEO of predatory lender Household International and now Chairman of HSBC Holdings USA William Aldinger sits on the board of MasterCard.

In figures released today, just prior to the Republican National Convention, Bush’s approval rating on the war on terror was just above 50%. On handling the economy, however, Bush has a 30% approval rating. This comes on the heels of Alan Greenspan’s warning about the future of Social Security and Medicare.
