RE: Household International
[date]
I am writing today to request that you place Household International, Household Retail Services, and subordinate Household entities on the banned list for military personnel.
As you know, Household International just settled the largest suit ever, resulting from its Household Finance subsidiary. We investigate another subsidiary, Household Retail Services, aka Household Credit Services.
In testimony before Washington State officials, Household International CEO William F. Aldinger stated that the three entities of Household International are separate business entities. Washington state investigators proved that statement false.
Two websites investigate abuses by Household Retail Services. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines do not expect to have their credit ruined nor blemished just because they applied for a store credit card from Best Buy, CompUSA and other retailers.
Household Retail Services is the finance engine behind these private label credit cards. Household International is as much a predatory lender in all subsidiaries as it is with Household Finance, as the government proved on October 11, 2002. Investigating trends targeting the military, retired Marine MSgt Blake of Household Watch is currently working with the FTC.
I am one of the customers hurt by Household, and I have been on active duty with [insert] since [insert] and my account has been mishandled since [insert]. I am not at fault, and must consider my career track, security clearance, and ability to get the government credit card.
Household watch assures me that letters were sent to Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson and HSBC Director Mr. Bill Aldinger expressing views about their policies, but the letters were not answered. Further investigation reveals that we are at a disadvantage when deployed. Reports on file indicate that there is a complete and total disregard for the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act, and Household makes it difficult or impossible to invoke the act.
Sincerely
