Topic Title: Watch Out for Mail In Rebates

Post

Most consumers hate mail in rebates. If you're going to get a break off the price, why go through all the hassle of having to send something through the mail? Best Buy advertises them all over the place.

Consumer beware! By filling in your name and address and mailing it off, it is possible that Household is adding a new potential victim to their database. Be very careful when shopping. I would rather pay the extra money then give these jerks my information so they can bombard me with their tainted offerings. I may pay extra, but it will save me money and my credit rating in the long run.

The only people that will get your info are the people that you are sending it to. For instance, if you purchase an EPSON printer, and you are to receive a $20.00 rebate, you get the $20.00 check from EPSON, not Best Buy. So don't worry so much.

Not true, most mail in rebates come from clearing houses. Who owns them, I don't know but I highly doubt that Epson is taking in the rebates.
