Topic Title: Retail Services bizarre tactics

Back in late 2002/early 2003 I was not receiving bills. I called each month to let them know and they said I did not owe for that month and no late fees would be charged.

After about 5 months of this, they sent my account to a collection agency because I wasn't paying! After about 3 months I got them to take the account back from the collection agency only to have an extra $225.32 added to my account. After 2 years of correspondence, they still won't tell me what that increase was for.

I received letters that answered questions I never asked. I received letters that flat out told me I was wrong. Then I received a letter that told me to check with the collection agency to get proof of their balance. When I did this and sent it to HSBC I received a letter saying the issue was sent to the billing department, then I never heard back from them.

I guess they didn't know what to say now that I proved them wrong, so now they're just ignoring me.

I did receive a partial credit on a few late fees, but nowhere near the whole $225. My account will be paid off next month and I will probably never know what I paid that extra money for, let alone receive a credit for it.

I would be extremely grateful if you could help me get a credit on this.
