I keep getting voice mail messages to call this number 1-800-280-5777, and they ask for me by my full name including my middle initial. I called them to ask them why they keep calling me.

HSBC says that we have an open account with Best Buy, and that we owe them a payment. I told them that we don't have an account with Best Buy and that we always pay in full when we buy from Best Buy.

They acted as they were checking my account and asked me if my address was ---- Lafayette Deleted by editors --. I told them that this was not my address and to remove me from their list. They said they would.

They sounded suspicious in the way they accepted my requests. Please look into this for us. Thanks.

(The FBI also is calling it the "hottest and most troubling new scam on the Internet." Even the FDIC's good name was used fraudulently in a phishing scheme.)

I just got a call from them too, but I monitor calls and didn't answer - they hung up without leaving a message.

Also rec'd a call from 800 959 1373 which I assume is the same type operation.....

I purchased appliances at Best Buy on a six-months same-as-cash deal. I do this often with other companies, pay it off early, and increase my credit score. At the time I made said purchase, my credit score was 730-not bad at all. I moved, processed the change with Best Buy, and thought nothing more of it. In checking my credit last week, I discovered HSBC/Best Buy reporting me as delinquent. Turns out, I only received the first statement. They claim all others were returned by the post office and "They won't be accountable for the Post Office's mistakes". Turns out, they were sending my statements to an address I have never lived at. When I call, they are horribly rude and treat me like a liar and a bum. My credit score has dropped and this will be on it for 7 years. They say they have no obligation to me to bill me...It was my obligation to notice not receiving the bill and call them to arrange payment. I will never shop Best Buy again, and I discourage anyone from using credit through HSBC--they are unethical.

Though I do believe a lot of mistakes are being made at HRS, why is it that everyone thinks if they don't receive a statement they don't owe anything. I keep track of all my bills and know what I owe on them, when I owe them. I have two household cards and never had a problem with either one. I do have it set for automatic deduction though so that helps me out. But still, I don't receive a mortgage bill every month, but I still know I have to pay....
