Topic Title: New HSBC $5 Fee to Pay Online

I am having a problem with these people as well. I had a car loan with Household Finance which became HSBC. I could usually pay online and not be charged any additional fee now if you pay online but don't have it withdrawn automatically-every month- from your checking account you pay a $5 fee-even though I paid online and paid the additional $5 I am still considered late so they tack on an additional $20 per month. To get around the problem I sent my payment in at the beginning of the month and am still charged the late fee. They received the payment at the beginning of the month and my payment date is the 20th. True I sent a form that said an earlier month but I wrote on it the month I was actually paying for -the other payments are documented online-unless they are trying to tell me I skipped a payment -which isn't true.

The really awful part about this is you can't really talk to anyone about a problem. They were unhappy that I had so low an interest rate from Household Finance they wrote and told me to be very sure I had collision on my car or my contract was null and void-my car has always had collision and they were sent a notice-they have been looking to charge more and maybe they think they have found a way.I am very fed up with these people and they will honor the commitment.

I always thought it was a mistake to have them draw money from my account -they could be double billing me and I would never know the difference-this goes for any company not just them-I want control over my money.

Glad to hear it. We have never been able to confirm the stated $5 fee. Thanks for posting.
