Topic Title: Milpitas Best Buy Deceptive Advertising
I lined up at 6am at the best buy in Milpitas, California for the sony psp as advertised for $249. once the doors opened, best buy employees announced that we would only be able to purchase the psp as a bundle.
The bundle consisted of the psp, 1 game, 1 psp accessory, and a best buy service plan. that's right, they were requiring people who lined up hours before the store opened to purchase a service plan in order to purchase the psp. this bundle started at $339. once we mentioned that the circular above advertised the psp for $249, the best buy manager said we could go elsewhere to purchase the psp.
A number of us in line promptly walked to the wal-mart in the same shopping center and was able to acquire a psp without purchasing a bundle and more importantly, no service plan. this is the first time i've seen a service plan literally forced down one's throat, and i do not intend to shop at best buy again.
I also discontinued my patronage of Best Buy about a year ago because a credit card payment went through the roof. A creditor (LDG Financial) just called me today at a completely new phone number and said I owed money. HOW in the world can they get a completely new number (just got it last month) that I never gave them permission to call (over two years ago is when I got the card). I haven't submitted my phone number to try to get credit for anything, so how can they get it. They had also called my in-laws a couple of months ago, but I thought I may have put their number down as a reference. Now I'm sure they are getting my number(s) some other way. Any ideas and is this legal? thanks for any help.
