Melissa Rutland Drury, who was branch manager at the time of the alleged loan abuses, was fired by the company in May 2002 after company officials blamed her for the problems.
About two years later, Drury filed a wrongful discharge and defamation suit against the company in U.S. District Court, claiming she had followed company policy during her tenure and was being made a scapegoat.
Her suit is pending in Seattle.

I was a household employee and personally hope every one of you takes them to court and they go down. They've been screwing people for years including their employees. They sent us to seminars on quoting blended rate and effective interest rate. We never knew which way was up or down. As a past employee I now see the light

Hi ,
My husband and I own a home back 2002 and our loan was transfered to household. Our Loan was a no penalty loan . I took the loan out for 129.000.00 and when we sold the home the loan was up to 134.000.00 We sold the home in 2003. What can we do ????? :( :( :twisted:

Demand an accounting as to what happened to your payments. If you can find a good lawyer who is versed in predatory lending, any consultation fees spent will be well worth it.
Remember, lenders are banking on the fact that consumers won't do anything about stuff like this. We have to prove them wrong.
I mention legal help because Household is supposedly well-known for ignoring consumer requests. Please don't let this go on without an accounting of the situation.
This case is another example of how useless and unjust the recent settlement was. Nothing but window dressing and lip service to make it look like our politicians really care.

Does anyone know if Ms. Rutland-Drury's testimony was ever made available to the public?
I would give my eyeteeth to read what she said in court. Or is this still being blocked from public view?
We monitor customer trends for possible violations of Regulation Z and other possible illegal actions.
