Topic Title: Lied To At Time of Purchase
This is a complaint about HSBC. I bought t.v for $542.02 on May, 2005 on deferred (6 mo.payment.) I asked the sales person "at least 3 times" if NO payment was due for 6 months (which would be in Nov). He said "yes" that was correct. Since then, I have received a bill every month with increasing charges as: 'late fee assessment', and 'billed finance charges'.
I ignored that as I FELT that I had until Nov. to pay but; THEN, on August 14, 2005, I received a letter from their COLLECTION DEPARTMENT, stating that I was delinquent and demanding payment of $600.70. This letter was from HSBC Retail Services, P.O. BOX 4144, Carol Stream, Il 60l97-4l44. I resent their harrassment and billing system. I am going to pay them off tomorrow in the amount of my original purchase price of $542.02-AND NO MORE. I WILL FILE A SUIT AGAINST THEM IF THEY WANT MORE.
I cannot understand how they can get by with sending a collection letter after 3 months on a 6 month, 'same as cash' purchase. Hope someone in power can stop their billing processes
