Topic Title: HSBC Billing Paid Off GE Loan

I owned a 2003 Suzuki sv650s motorcycle which was financed through GE Capital Finance. In August 2004 the bike was totalled when I was rear-ended by an SUV. The other driver's insurance (Progressive) paid off the loan with GECF in full.

I have a copy of the cashed draft that paid the loan.

HSBC somehow bought the loan from GECF shortly thereafter, and is now sending me collection notices and is threatening litigation. I have faxed them copies of the draft and promise of lien release on 3 separate occasions. I am now "waiting for a phone call" to find out if it has been straightened out.
