Topic Title: HSBC Best Buy Same old tricks
Well, after reading the posts on householdwatch.com, I see that HSBC/Best Buy are still up to their old tricks.
Yesterday, I got my statement from the nice folks and discovered that I had been assessed a late fee of $35.00. Why? well it appears that my payment had been posted one day after the payment due date. This in spite of the fact that my payment had been mailed seven days before the due date. Eight days for a payment to go from Dillon, CO to Southern California? Give me a break! How interesting that the local postmaster says it would take four days - max, while the person I spoke to at HSBC says it takes the mail 8-10 days to get to them. They must believe we're awfully gullible or that the Pony Express is still in business.
I also find it interesting that in reviewing statements from other companies that show a Payment date, that the maximum period from mailing to posting is 5 days (other than HSBC). These companies are also much further away than HSBC.
How do they continue to get away with it?
I have had problem after problem with Bestbuy and Household. I was co-signed on a card and the other person filed bankruptcy so they then came after me. I paid for insurance on the account, incase anything happened, then bestbuy informed me I was ineligible because I was a student at a 4 year university. I paid 25$ a month for 2 years, that starts to add up. Everytime I would try and talk to someone they would just transfer me and transfer me.
No one had any authority to do anything and after three hours of being bounced around I would finally give up. After I paid what I was convinced was a settlement ($1300.00) by some man that said he worked for an attorneys office, they still came after me wanting more. After two years I have tried to settle multiple times. After having a recording made of a settlement, they came back and said it was no good, I asked to here the recorded agreement and they refused to let me hear it, they called me a liar, were very argumentative, and they told me I had to pay more, screamed at me and then hung up.
This was done by the United Recovery Agency. One person calls me and another sends me three letters a day. Its unbelievable. I cant talk to anyone at Bestbuy or Household, and if I speak to one they are not connected and say they cant help me. Or won't. I am extremely frustrated and would appreciate any help. Thank you.
