Over the course of the past year and a half, I have had the misfortune of dealing with this company for two separate accounts.

To make a long story short, the best advice that I can offer to anyone with a Retail Credit Card which is part of the HRS-HSBC "family" is to make sure that you pay off your entire balance the month before the interest rates begin to accrue. That way, when you receive your bill for the seventh month 3 days before the bill is due (another favorite activity of this company) despite the fact that you paid the balance in full at least 20 days before interest begins to accrue on their "6 months same as cash" deals, you have your own paper trail (IE: a cancelled check/checks) to prove to them that you do not owe the late fees, interest charges and principle balance that they claim that you do.

I should also warn everyone that they may engage in a practice whereby your account is credited at a date far removed from when they deposited your check. If this happens, they may continue to charge you interest between the date of payment and the date of "posting."

Silly you thinking that you are paid in full because you paid them what they told you that you owed. Then you receive a bill for some figure like $18.23, disregard it, and get socked with a $35.00 late fee and additional interest charges. My advice to you: PAY THE $18.23. It may stick in your craw, but it beats trying to talk to those people and being charged more money that you probably do not owe.
