Topic Title: Fair Debt Collections Practices Act

We inadvertantly missed a payment and were sent to HSBC "collections." I received a call from India at work from someone who had no idea what he was talking about. I then received a letter from HSBC that failed to comply with the Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. In the meantime, we paid our balance (less "late charge assessments"). I called HSBC--it was apparent that they had no idea what the FDCPA was. When I began to question them further, they kept asking why I didn't pay my bills.

Sounds like a good opportunity for a class action.
