Topic Title: credit card from tranamerica bank

I recently reviewed my credit report and found I have a credit card from transamerica bank open. I googled online and found a phone number( I do not have the card any more), and was told that they are out of business. I would like to have this account closed. Does anybody know to whom they sold their card business? Or any suggestions? Thanks.

TransAmerica's credit card business was sold to Household International. Household International was purchased by HSBC Bank in 2002. Your account data theoretically is still owned by HSBC Finance Corporation, 2700 Sanders Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070. Their main switchboard telephone number is 847-205-7452.
