Topic Title: Co-signer Gone Bad - Military

I have an account with HSBC Retail Services. I’m supposed to be co-signer on a loan for my daughter on a motorcycle that she surprised her husband with after his return from Iraq. (He is in the military in Ft. Campbell, KY.) I ended up being the only name on the contract. I have never received a copy of it, and still cannot to this day.

They say that the account is over 126 days over due. We know this is not true. My daughter makes the payments. I have twice requested a copy of a payment history, this year alone. I have still to receive one. They haven’t given me any documents I have asked for, including a copy of the contract. I was told to call the dealership for that, and I’m still waiting to hear back from them at this time. We would like to get this problem resolved somehow.

My son-in-law is due to go back to Iraq again around Sept 1st of this year. I have also been told this month that the motorcycle is in repossession status and the only thing we can do is pay the account in full. Neither one of us has that much money on hand.

They have been rude to my daughter and me over the phone. One case recently had my daughter in tears. After telling the woman the status of her husband’s deployment over seas, and wanting to work this out before he left, she was told that “they didn’t want to hear any military story”.

We have both filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We haven’t really gotten any info on what to do yet. The BBB has presented it to the company, that much I do know. If you have any information on what we can do to get this over with, or resolve this matter, please let me know.

I'll get right to the details –

We don't receive statements for months at time. I called to pay over the phone, then I am told they never got a payment for those months. After 3 months of that they said they are not taking any more payments and that the account is in repossession status.

Got very rude customer service. They are unwilling to clear anything up with us. Was told that I was using my husband’s deployment over seas as a crutch.

Please get back with me about this, thank you.
