HSBC Retail Services scammed me in a six-month-same-as-cash deal. I made the purchase for my new home, and gave my PO Box as my mailing address. Even after my move, I continued to pay for the PO Box with a Forwarding order to my new home. I also kept the cell phone number listed on my account. After I moved, my first statement was forwarded to me with no problems and I made my first substantial payment. (They only reason I "do" these same-as-cash deals is that they cost me nothing and help build credit.) Because I was starting a new job, in a near-fatal car accident..."BUSY" I did not notice when the next statement did not come. I believed I had paid it off along with several other same-as-cash debts. Checking my credit this month, I found the reporting by HSBC. When I called, they claimed they had mailed the statements and they all were returned undeliverable. After some insults from the Collections person, I found out they had been mailing my statements to an incorrect address. They claim NO RESPONSIBILITY to me to call me or investigate the address error. They told me I should have called them when I didn't receive a statement...In other words, their address error was nothing, but reporting me 5months past due and attaching fees and higher interest rate was in their rights. Basically, they have made a great deal on this account, ruined my credit, and I have no recourse. My credit history was perfect...and my credit report prominently shows my correct address. If they reported to the bureaus, do they have an obligation to note my address and notify me of a problem with the account?
