I need to close my account. It has never been used and I have attempted to close it through Best Buy several times but they are incompetent

Try calling Household (HSBC) instead of Best Buy. Household actually owns your account - it just has Best Buy's name on it. That's why Best Buy can't help you. Check the number on the back of your card - (800)365-0292 and when it asks you to enter your card number, don't, let it repeat itself and you should get through to a live person.
