In 2003 I was called by Account Secure Plus, representing Orchard Bank and was offerd this credit card protection if I become permanently disabled. They harge $22.00 per month for this service and after a long time of declining, I finally agreed to it, by phone.

When the bill from HSBC didn’t come about a month later, I called wondering where it was and if it was now late. The women on the phone told me that My bill from HSBC should be coming in the mail soon. 2 weeks went by, and I never got a bill. So I got online to check my statement that way, and there was no bill.

My son and I have been going back and forth with HSBC about my son’s account for more than 6 months regarding making two payments online (one on the due date and the other the day before the due date) and being charged a late fee. There is nothing written in the terms/customer agreement that payments made online on the due date or the day before the due date will not be considered on time. My son has another credit account through HSBC for Mac Tools and the Mac Tools payments made online on the due date or the day before the due date are credited as being made on time. I also borrowed from someplace else to close my husband’s HSBC Suzuki loan because of the HSBC/Best Buy situation.”

They want you to make a payment over the phone which will cost you an extra $20.00. I mailed my check out on the first of November and they called me on the 13th of November to say that they did not receive a payment and if they don’t get a payment by the 16th I will have to pay a late fee of $79.00. Can they do that and get away with it?
That is robbery.”
