MB in Texas said this about HSBC: “HSBC has to be one of the most ignorant banks I have ever had an account with. I never had a late payment and they reduced my credit balance twice. When I called to cancel, they couldn’t find my account. They told me my account was already canceled..but was looking at an account canceled 8 years ago even thought I gave them the last four digits off of their correspondence.

MK in Florida said: “I keep getting call from the collections department of HFC Beneficial for someone else. I received at least 8 calls and explained to them they have the wrong number. All have told me they would take care of it. In one day I received two calls. Now I am receiving automated messages every day. I have no relationship with this entity and would like HSBC to stop calling me.”
VJ in Virginia said: “Made the mistake to refinance my home with Beneficial Finance. Last year, 2008, BF put a hazard policy on my home. OK. In June I noticed I was being charged for that hazard policy and a new one at the same time. Called and was told I had missed payments during the last month so I had to make it up now and a new policy had been added. I asked how that could be when I had made all payments as obviously they would have forclosed by now if I hadn’t. Couldn’t give me an answer.
SA in NEw York said: “HSBC closed my bank account without first notifying me. This follows 6 weeks of me trying to work out a resolution with them regarding my account which was overdrawn. Instead of declining several small ( as low as $16.00) purchases that I made in the same time frame, mistakenly believing I had more than enough money in my account, HSBC paid the amounts and then billed me $39 each, totaling just over $380.00.
MC in Michigan said: “My husband and I went through a bad house fire in March, 2009. After we moved a lot of work still needed to be done. We had a long fight with the insurance company and finally won our battle. The insurance company agreed to settle with us monies to repair the remaining part of our home. We have done this and passed 100% inspections. Every document is in the mortgage loss department. The HSBC loss department has $25,000 of our money for work we did.
