TP in Ohio said: “Reading all the comments on this website made me realize I am not alone in my battle with this company. I was given a hardship (interest reduction) for 6 months and was told once the 6 months was up I would need to re-apply for an extension. I submitted paperwork back in August and still have had no success with an approval or denial on the hardship. Each time I talk to someone they state they will forward the information to a supervisor and to call back. Whenever I call back they say the application is still being reviewed.

SM in the UK said: “I joined the Midland bank in 1965 and now of course its HSBC, I have allways conducted my current account well and had a credit card with them. However in 2007 HSBC said they would not renew my credit card because i never used it. This was fair enough as they said if i decided i wanted the card to give them a ring and they would issue it again. Now i have retired i thought i would ask for it again and HSBC refused saying i did not meet their criteria.

AM in New Jersey said: “Since September I have spoken to 4 customer service people and one person who claimed to be a supervisor. Last week I was told by a person by the name of Anu, I.D. Hgizhx, that I qualified for a two month extension due to my place of employment closing the business. Anu also told me there would be an automatic withdraw from my account today 11/10/2009. When I realized the money was not taken from my account I called. One girl says i qualify for a 1 month extension and says there are no notes in the system, she than tranfers me over to a supervisor who tells me i dont qualify for an extension. So, here I am – money in the bank, – not taken from HSBC like i told it would be and one girl telling me i qualify and another says i dont? Whats going on over there?”
