DJ in Texas said: “I just logged on to HSBC to make a payment to noticed that my credit line had been reduced more than half. I haven’t been late on payments and I always pay over the minimum due. This really makes me mad as I have been a member for years. Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that you can file a complaint with the Federal Reserve about this at www.federalreserveconsumerhelp.gov/index.cfm”

They are calling the wrong number. I have told them repeatedly that I am not Yvonne, and to take me off the list, but they continue to call. I know that I have legal recourse at this point (I am saving the calls), but unsure of what legal recourse I can pursue at the national and California state level. Could someone lead me in the right direction re the laws that protect me?”
CL in Kansas said: “I have been a HSBC credit card holder for two years. I went on line to view my latest statement and discovered that my credit limit was cut from $8,000 to $470.00. There was no notice of this reduction. I have never carried a balance on this card, gone over my limit, or been late with payments. A call to HSBC’s customer service representative was useless as they only provide scripted responses. My credit scores have only gone up in the past two years, my debt has been reduced, and I am gainfully employed full time. I think this is outrageous but am reasonably certain I have little to no recourse.”
JM in Virginia said: “In 2005 I bought a computer from best buy using and HSBC account, after making about half of my payments on time I was deployed with the Marine Corps and I fell behind on my payments. When I returned 6 months later I found that my account was in collections. As soon as I received this information I called the bank and paid the balance due and everything was fine, except for a mark on my credit for being late, which is to be expected because I was late.
