SS in Wisconsin said: “I tried to use HSBC’s on-line bill pay and wouldn’t let me in. Why should I have to pay $15 to pay over the phone (which would have been easier) – Now I continue to have late charges. It’s a vicious circle!”

RC in North Carolina said: “I have an account with HFC, over the years I was NEVER late and sometimes paid more than the min. payment. As we all know times are tough right now so for the last few months we have been late. NEVER OVER 30 DAYS. The people from HFC start calling 2 days after the due date and when I say calling I mean 4 times an HOUR !! No joke. I get so stressed hearing the dang phone ringing off the hook (even after I have talked to someone) What really gets me is they ask for more than whats due. They always ask for 2 months of payment which is crazy ! I am sick and tired of these people and I am tempted to tell them I am not going to pay at all if they keep harrassing me. It just gets to me that we are not ever 30 days late and they start calling 2 days after due date ! Isn’t that against the law ?? Thanks for reading.”

MN in North Dakota said: “I purchased a PC and printer a year ago from Office Max with the written understanding that there would be no interest. I have been paying each month, yet the balance seems to be going up — not down.”

TD in Colorado said: “My brother, who recently passed, left his wife a debt of over $25K. He had life insurance on it but now Beneficial is saying that it is cancelled. They claimed that when my brother and his wife prepaid their loan for 1 year, even though the payment towards the insurance was included in that 1 year payment, there is a clause that states that if no payment is made within a 3 month period, (within that 1 year prepay) the insurance is cancelled.”

DL in Vermont asks: “Is it legal for them to call on Sundays? Also to send mortgage payments to collections instead of foreclosing? Either one is not going to make a difference. We can not pay the mortgage payments. And how much to send in hoping of getting check back so I can say look I made the attempt to pay?”
