SB in Minnesota said: “I purchased Audio Video equipment at BestBuy in July. They (HSBC and Best Buy) offered me an interest free plan for which did sign. To my horror I’ve also been charged debt cancellation fee per month which happens to be about the same amount as the potential interest on the purchase.”

RD in Illinois said: “I had set up automatic monthly payments on my HSBC card for a charity. The first time my card went over limit, I contacted HSBC, so they would not put any more charges through. I was told it was taken care of. I had also written a letter containing my cut-up card. They continued to put charges through, racking up more and more over limit charges and late fees. They had also been charging me for credit card protection that I never agreed to. I legitimately owe about $300, but they have gotten a collection agency on me to collect $750. Also, they refused to send me statements when I requested them. $750? Good luck!”

HN in Georgia said: “I have had a card with these losers for 6 years, have always paid early and way over the minimum. This is the first and ONLY time I have been late, but a CSR has been calling me ALL DAY LONG…..8 times in the past 8 hours. I have told them repeatedly that they will get paid when I get paid in 3 days. They keep harassing me. I HATE HSBC! I will never ever ever get another card from them. Not worth the constant harassment over 1 late payment of $30!”

Today we acquired a copy of the BBB report for HSBC Merchant Musician’s Friend. It does not look good, but all of it cannot be blamed on HSBC in any way, shape, or form. (Part of it probably can) Personally I go to the Musician’s Friend factory outlet store in Kansas City, but I always pay cash. What happened in this case is the customer used his credit card, issued and handled by HSBC. After getting enough late fees and other flack, he reported it. SC in Kansas said: “I just checked my credit report and found HSBC on my report 20 times. Someone has been applying for credit over 20 times on my credit. I do not know who HSBC is. I did not apply for anything with this company nor have I applied for anything in the recent past. I would appreciate it if this company would stop trying to apply with my credit!”
