CH in wisconsin said: “After having a GM (HSBC) credit card and several “store” cards that were carried by HSBC for a number of years. They pulled their late payment scam on one of my store cards and then tried to blame the post office for losing my payment. After paying off the store card and discontinuing use on my other store cards, HSBC decided to raise the interest on my GM card to 31%. Their only response as to why was, “it’s a business decision”. Needless to say, I’m not paying 31% on a pre-existing balance. I’m disabled and don’t really need a good credit score. Let then try their worst. Do yourself a favor and don’t do any business with these criminals or any stores that use their financial services.”

DV in Ohio said: “My daughter bought a laptop from Best Buy with the 2 year no finance charge and got a credit card but she did not sign up for any insurance. When the card came a month later and she called to activate it she repeatedly said no to any other offers and now her first bill comes and there is a $10.21 charge for debt cancellation-OH.”
MS in Nevada said: “Out of fear that my deposits were not insured I opened an online account with HSBC and funded it with tens of thousands of dollars. I never received promised username and password to get into their online banking site — still don’t have them after more than six weeks. I demanded by phone and FAX that they return my money and haven’t seen anything from them. Don’t think that their banking operations are free from the predatory attitudes of the many companies they operate.”

I was forced to take a demotion in Jan 2008, I closed 1 Branch in SC due to optimzition and was FIRED on Thursday of last week for supposedly a “Time Entry Error”. My DSM walked into my branch on Tuesday of last week and confronted me with the allegation. I of course did not make this time entry error (I have been around too long). He then informed me by phone later that day that I was suspended for 2 days pending an HR investigation.
TB in Michigan said: “Account current, but my credit report indicated HSBC placed it for collection. Called HSBC Best Buy and they said “oops we made a mistake.” HSBC promised to correct the error but instead they placed current account for collection 2 weeks after I called. Payments are current, I pay more than the minimum and my balance has been reduced by $4000. Now this out of the blue - with no warning. I lost a home mortgage due to HSBC report and lies. DON’T TRUST HSBC!”
