CL in Iowa said: “Every month I send my house payment in 6 or 7 days before the due date and every month, HSBC holds my check until it is late and then the next month they charge me about a $40.00 late fee. They also call me at work and ask me when I am making my payment, I tell them my payment is not even due yet and then they ask me if I intend to keep my property? What nerve!! HSBC is probably doing the same thing to alot of customers and it needs to stop! Even the Government takes the date that is post marked on your envelope? I hate to think how much money they have taken from me in late fees and with the price of gas and groceries every penny counts!!”

AO in North Carolina said: “I paid off my HFC (Member HSBC Group) in May. I paid the online balance of $8507.11. Subsquently I have received bills for finance charges. In the ensuing months I have received bills for finance charges on the finance charge. I have called numerous times asking for HFC to waive the residual finance charge after I paid off the $8507.11. They have refused. I know this can be done because other creditors that I paid off (to include American Express and Citibank) were more than willing to do this. HFC has been unyielding. I have explained to them that I paid everything off to go into voluntary missionary work. This was to no avail. How can I contact someone that will listen? Is it not illegal to charge finance charge on finance charges? Please help.”

BT in Maryland said: “I haven’t used my HSBC credit card since September of 2007 as far as I can remember. Sometime early this year, I received two new set of HSBC credit cards for me and my wife with different account numbers. I was told that there was some information compromised and the change was an added security. After that, sometime in May or June, I received another set of cards-same account numbers as I can recall-but with different expiration dates. I called but was told that just destroy the old one and use the new ones. In July, I was surprised to learn that 3 unauthorized transactions were posted to my account (at least 2 of 3 were made over-the-counter which is very clear someone was able to make exact duplicate of my HSBC Card. To make the long story short, they haven’t resolved it yet and so far they are charging it back to me, even they haven’t completed their investigation yet and more important- even without notifying or calling me to get information first that will help their investigation. I don’t know why banks seem so reckless in outsourcing sensitive business processes overseas where any people can get access to personal financial information.”
