CP in Washington said: ” I wanted to comment about the Sears / Roth Crabtree collections. I am taking RC to court. The person needs to check out Budd Hibb’s website and contact a NACA lawyer. Routh Crabtree commonly violate FDCPA and place non-judicial liens on properties (then foreclose) or obtain confession of judgement with very high interest rates and attorney fees. The consumer needs an advocate attorney.”

SK in Pennsylvania said: “I check my bank account every day to see what has posted to my account since I’m not the greatest person out there to keep track of their money. I checked it this morning and there was a “PreAuthorized Debit from HSBC RS” for $20.00. I called the bank to see what was going on and they said there’s no phone number or anything as to where it came from. So I called the number listed for HSBC Retail Services Center and the lady couldn’t even help me.

KM in West Virginia said: “I took out a small Hsbc/Beneficial loan for 5,000.00. The manager made me feel like I had to take the insurance being offered. He would not let up on me until I said yes to him. He just kept pushing and pushing.”

JG in Alsaka said: “We were unable to make payments to Sears for a balance of around $3000. Sears used a high power collections firm, Routh Crabtree to file suit against us and to avoid a judgement and subsequent garishment, etc. we agreed to payment terms with the collections firm for an amount nearly triple the original balance. The monthly payment has been deducted from our bank account for the last couple of years. We found out today that the collections firm has filed a lien against our house on behalf of sears. There reason was that we were in default of the agreement as Sears raised our interest rate and the monthly payment went up. We were not paying the balance of the new interest rate. We have never missed a payment to these thieves and we were never informed by Sears or Routh Crabtree of the increased rate or increased monthly payment. Now what do we do?”
