WM in Ohio said: “In response to: Employment tribunal hears from HSBC former employee in London
HSBC is a boys club certainly. I heard in one branch they only gave the females the loans the males couldn’t get… “leftovers”. I don’t have that problem in my branch because we haven’t had a female employee in a few years as a loan officer. There is different treatment of females, less respect and the language that goes on is unbelieveable.”

An Ohio resident said: “One thing that keeps bothering me in a lot of posts is that they keep referring to Household. HSBC now is the owner and now is responsible for its own actions. HSBC is the troubled lender and from what I read on here, they seem just as bad if not worse. Their treatment of employees is even worse now. Also, they are denying a lot of what would be considered “their customers” in the sub-prime, but yet they don’t compete with the prime market. They’re lucky if they sign one real estate loan per branch per month. Anonymous.”

An HSBC in the UK sent this: “I am an employee of Beneficial Finance in the UK. Stay tuned. I have 4 weeks to go. Handed notice in today.”

ER in Washington said: “I have an HSBC account with Mac Tools. HSBC repeatedly does not receive payments my fiance and I mail in, 6 times thus far on this account and 3 times so far on my Bowflex account. We always call them and ask why when the payement was mailed well before the due date are they not getting our checks. The answer is always the same: HSBC cannot track payments with in their system and we now need to pay a $15 fee as a phone payment is required. We have tried to set up an online account for over a year to zero success. My most recent attempt was April 10, 2008.

AD in Michigan said: “We purchased furniture at Art Van and we were told that it was for 18 months interest free. We were led to believe that the interest started at the end of the 18 months. Well we bought $4,750.00 worth of furniture and we were very surprised when our first bill showed a balance of almost $8,000.00. We were being charged $73.00 monthly for something called Dept Cancellation. My lawyer did not even know what that was. So much for the joy of owning new furniture!”
