FB in Ohio said: “Fell for the 0% interest rate promo. Transferred our Visa balance to a GM Flex Card (HSBC). It took them almost three months to complete their transfer. We received our 1st statement 7 days before the due date and I paid $500 electronically, immediately (well above the minimum payment required). The next statement showed a $39 late fee. My wife called customer service and got the late fee waived. The NEXT statement stated we were being charged $298 in interest; they had raised our interest rate from 0% to 30%, effective immediately. Another call to customer service; they stated there was nothing they could do about it as they had already waived a late payment fee. I paid off the entire balance (including interest) this morning. Don’t deal with these people or any retailer using this company! Go to your local loan shark, on the street; the shark will give you a better deal, and stand behind it!”

CM in Kentucky said: “I was an employee of HSBC for three and half years. During that time I had never in my life seen a company so corrupt in the way they treated their employees. I was terminated because of time I had to take off for my daughter after they had denied me any FMLA leave time and then told me that I could not reapply for it. If employees were not fraternizing or sleeping with the managers outside of work then their careers went nowhere.
GP in Indiana said: “Never again will I purchase another piece of Bowflex equipment, new or used, as long as Bowflex is affiliated with hsbc. It is HSBC’s policy to make payments as difficult as possible. HSBC sets you up or a late fee.”
JH in Maryland says: “I have a 2nd mortgage with HSBC with an APR of 16 percent. I have been talking to them for than 8 months to try to modify my loan but they refuse to help me. Many other lenders are helping customers in trouble but HSBC wants me to lose my house I guess…”
AS in Himachal India said: “I am a HSBC Premier customer, had requested for activating my internet banking on 6 December 2007, which in turn will stop sending my monthly statements to home and I should receive the security device for same with in 4-5 working days, but after so many queries and calling I managed to get the device in more than 2 months (such a nice service and workers in HSBC) thus for them 5 days means 2 months!
