RD in Texas said: “Free part of payment website does not work. Rush side that charges $15 works fine. I thought it was against the law to charge a fee to pay early. These robbers actually do this. I called Bose and got a nice gentleman who said it was his job to field complaints about HSBC practices. I told him he must be a very busy young man.”

CS in California said: “In late 2005 I had 3 Household accounts. Although we paid most of them on time we began using their online system to make payments that would be processed late incurring late fees. I then began using their automated payment system where they would deduct the proper monthly minimum from my checking account. Periodically they would not process the automatic payments on time sighting that the online payments were not a guranteed payment and that it takes time to process. My payments where scheduled weeks before due date.

I had an HSBC card in ‘03 to purchase a computer from CompUSA. I paid it in full before the 25 day grace period was up and (even though they held it up) the check was cashed prior to the grace period. They extored $434 out of me (I was younger and they were threatening me and harassing me). I got CompUSA’s credit department involved. I was told it was taken care and didn’t hear anything for almost three years. Now my alleged debt (they claim I owe them more money) has been sold to another SHADY debt collectuion agency (Resurgent Capitol Services).

DR in Iowa asks: “I noticed an unauthorized charge on my checking account made just today (Jan 28, 2008) by HSBC RS for $25 and I do not have an account with them. How did they get my information? How can I sue Household Bank?”

Z in Maryland said: “Beneficial and Household will not change until HSBC clears out all upper management (DSM,DGM,RGM, Vice-Presidents) involved in their finance division that remains in place prior to the State settlements. Those managers create a climate of do or die at the customers expense. If they’re allowed to stay in place their policy of extorting branch employees will never change. I was a branch employee for many years and got out last year.
