LT in Pennsylvania said: “I think I just got scammed. I can’t believe this sort of customer service in this day and age especially coming from a large retailer such as Best Buy. My payments have been on automatic bill pay so I haven’t missed a payment. I’ve inquired before about the debt cancellation fee and asked for it to be removed. It never was. I haven’t made a dent in the actual balance because of that fee. The same as cash promotion ended this month and I never got a reminder. I just relied on the automatic payments. Looking at my current statement it says I owe an extra $262.66 for billed deferred Finance Charges. Is there something I can do? If I pay the entire due amount I believe that I would have paid an extra $400 dollars on top of the price of the product. This does not seem right to me.”

DL in Maryland said: “I’ve recently been getting A LOT, and I mean A LOT of calls on my cell phone (no land line, I only use my cell) from the phone # 1-800-395-2274. When answered, I would get the computer “please wait for an important message” line…then it would either hang up, or, well, anyway…. Long story short, I finally Googled the number, low and behold, HSBC credit card company. OK, I’ve (unfortunately) got a few of their cards, and have never been late on a payment. I was puzzled at what the deal was as to why they were (are) calling me (and I mean anywhere from 5-10 calls a day!), and on top of that, would never leave a message. Well, wanna know something…..have any of you been getting calls from this number? Just type the above phone number in the google search box and look at the results. Read what everyone says. Seems I’m not the only one.”

An Ohio resident said: “To all HSBC customers with credit lines. Be careful of the credit line reduction, make sure you have no outstanding checks as this will cause you to be over the new credit limit giving HSBC further reason to charge extra fees. When they reduce the credit limit that will make many customers look as if they are maxing out their credit lines, which hurts your credit rating. They are reducing credit lines even on people who have been less than 30 days late. This company is a real piece of work. When they want you for a new customer they have no problem working with you, but once they have you…..”

LB in Texas said: “I am fed up with HSBC and their stupid tactics to make the elderly pay for not being as quick and swift as our younger counterparts. I am 86 years old and I remember opening up an account with HSBC back in 1994. I remember only purchasing one thing, but now until this day I have a bill that continues to accumulate and it never seems to decrease. I am sick of it to the point that I am ready to stop paying all together and just offer a settlement amount later.

LV in New Jersey said: “My husband and I mortgaged our home through HSBC. Let me tell you – HSBC has been a nightmare since. They paid off our truck as part of the loan and now no one can find the title. When I called our branch office to let them know where it was sent, the branch office could not even call that branch to ask to have it sent back. From the beginning HSBC has done nothing but lie, cheat, and as far as I’m concerned, steal from us. Never ever use any of HSBC’s services or you too will be robbed.”
