JP reported: “I made a payment by check to HRS Retail Services and they electronically took out only a partial payment and we were charged late fees. HSBC blamed my bank on accepting the funds, but they are the ones who submitted the amount. They would not find my check as my bank did not receive it back. My carbon was the correct amount. The lady was very rude to say the least and would not help me out at all. I had to pay the late charges to catch up on the late payments. This isn’t the first problem with HRS, so we are paying off the loan in full to escape any more damage they try to inflict on us. We are spreading the word also about HRS (HSBC) Retail services.”

IP in Ohio says: “I recent started getting calls every 5 minutes from automated calling lists telling me to call HSBC, who when I reach an American tells me nothing is wrong with my account I shouldn’t be on the list. Then I get calls from the “call center” in India where they tell me they want money NOW. Not to mention every time I used my card INDIA called to see if I used it. It’s insane…”
We will leave the initials and location off of this submission: “I am a former household employee, I can give you alot of the dirt on household. On ethics and laws that are broken. On how they phrase things to mislead customers. Its a sleazy, sleazy business that abuses the customer who is usually poorly educated and doesn’t know better. I worked there over 2 years know it very well. Don’t get me wrong I saw a lot of loans that did indeed help customers that were in desperate help, but I also saw a lot of loans that were totally misleading and destructive and a marketing model that was totally predatory.”
MN in Florida said: “I am an attorney representing a customer of HSBC Auto Loan and I called their 800 number regarding a bad repo and was on hold for more than an hour more than once and never did get through. The car was sold and now we are suing HSBC. Has anyone else failed to get through on the 800 toll free line?”
MK in Nevada said: “I spent 30 minutes reading these “horror” stories and couldn’t help but laugh at the laziness of those posting messages. Have some responsibility for not following your finances. To fall 60 days past due and complain that your credit is ruined is rediculous, pay your bill. Whining about late fees for $1 short, look at your statement and make the right payment. Your laziness is your fault.”
