DP in Ohio says: “After my father died, to protect my fathers estate I agreed to take the vehicle and when talking to the rep on the phone I was told that my vehicle was under a warranty. After gaining possession of the car I learned that it had MAJOR problems including needing a transmission. When I called and reported it to HSBC, I was told to get an estimate and fax it back, which I did. After HSBC received the fax of the estimate I was then told that the vehicle was not under any warranty and that there was nothing else I could do since I had signed the contract. Since then I have been trying to maintain the repairs to keep the car running and trying to make the monthly payments. it is hard. Every time I try to talk to Household (HSBC) I never get any results. Last month my car broke down and I had to pay a guy $446 just to be told by the mechanic that if I don’t get the transmission replaced I would be spending that kind of money every three months or so. Having to pay that money made my car payment late and by the time I was able to catch it up it’s due again. Household (HSBC) offered me an extension but what about the future repairs? I feel like I’ve been taken, I was told that the vehicle had a warranty and to this day when they pull up my account it says that I have a warranty but I don’t. Can anyone help please?”

DA reports: “HSBC calls my number regularly every day, looking for someone who is not at my number. HSBC clearly has the wrong number. I told them I am keeping record of the numbers of calls, dates, times, and individuals; the woman say “fine.” When I told here there was no one named “Louis” at this number, she said, and I quote,”okay, so he’s not there right now. I will call back.” I am a certified court reporter. I write fast, and I VERBATIM records of what people say at a 100% accuracy, indisputable. I am seeking legal advice and will be contacting my attorney in one more week if this continues.”
TH in North Carolina says: “I opened up a deposit with HSBC back in February to take advantage of their 6% introductory offer. Well the time has come to place my money elsewhere and I find out I can only do a bank to bank transfer for only $100,000.00 at a time. I have written HSBC 2 times about this the latest letter and HSBC said they had responded to my inquiry on June 5, 2007. Well in reality they had not, they lied. Thank heavens that I did not place more in their bank as I was told that they would only pay 6% on a cap of $300,000.00. The real funny thing is that I have an account with ING Direct and they have been great about transferring much larger sums between banks than the total that I have placed with HSBC. Anybody who is thinking about opening up an account with HSBC should beware that it might not be as easy as you think to get your money transfered.”
MS in the United Kingdom says: ” I have unfortunately been of work sick since September last year 2006, I have a current account plus and a flexiloan both covered by HSBC own insurance policy. It has taken untill now for them to send me claim forms both of which require me to pay to get them completed but due to bank charges etc all monies paid to me via Sickness Benefits are seized by the bank leaving me with no income whatsoever thus not allowing me to get these forms filled in, a deliberate policy to enable HSBC to make good profit from customers like me who now owe large amounts due to bank chgarges, people should be aware of HSBC policy toward treating their ncustomers so badly.”
