LP says: “On February 18, 2007, HSBC put an inquiry on my credit report. I do not know why they would be accessing my credit report without my permission. I took no action that would require you to invade my privacy. I do not believe that HSBC did due diligence to know the person they were dealing with. I am currently a victim of fraud and my identity was used for taxes filed by HSBC. This was discovered after I tried filing my taxes and was told by the IRS that my name and social security number was already used. I am writing HSBC a letter with the thought process that they will respond.”
TH in Pennsylvania said: “HSBC manages the credit department for Boscovs Department Store. I opened a charge with Boscovs in August and all of my payments were on time. I did not receive my December bill, so when I received the January bill it contained $40 in late fees and finance charges. I called and they basically told me they did not get the bill back so therefore, I must have received it and they would not waive any of the fees. I immediately cancelled the account and mailed in the balance I owed for merchandise only. They are currently charging me $15 a month for late fees and then finance charges on the balance. The balance is up to $79. I called again today and they said there is nothing they can do - I need to pay the entire balance. Any suggestions?”
SB reported: “Last fall there was an introductory offer through NAPA Auto Parts and my mechanic for an HSBC account including 90-days interest free and a year\’s free roadside assistance program. I never got the roadside assistance info. from them despite having called several times. I had trouble paying online and often paid by phone. I cancelled the account after 90 days mostly because it was so fishy. Now I see that they have reported me 30 days delinquent when I first opened the account. Someone should close these people down!”
